When to Ask for Assistance

Here at Geek Central, we are often asked “when do I need to bring my computer into the shop for service.” In general, we ask that clients bring in their computers in when:

  1. The computer in question starts to move very slow. This can be indicative of malware using all of the computer’s resources in the background.
  2. Software starts to appear that was never installed. This can be malware.
  3. Updates refuse to install. This can be indictive of a corrupted operating system or a corrupted user profile.
  4. The computer starts to feel not quite right. Most people’s intuition is usually correct, even if they are not quite sure what is wrong.

Dealing with computer issues early can prevent large bills and lost data later on.
